Design Systems

I help design and development teams share one system, from an honest look at how you work now to components you ship.

How I work

My approach, and who it's for.

A design system records your product decisions once so that every screen and every line of code can reuse them. Done well, it shortens development, lifts quality, keeps the brand steady and lets designers and developers speak about the same things in the same words.

Three stages

  1. Review. I study how your team works today and pick an approach that suits it.
  2. Common vocabulary. Together we name colours, type, spacing and components, and arrange the documentation so people can find what they need.
  3. The system. I build it, prototype with it, and stay with your team until they use it without me.

What your team receives

The point is to bring a team up to speed quickly, so they learn how to make a design system real and then keep it alive. You get starter templates, live coaching sessions, remote workshops over video, and a recording of each session. Invite everyone who touches the product. The work runs through my agency, Systems Loop, and you talk to me throughout.

Team size

This suits product teams of around 10 people or more. At that size, coordination gets hard and a shared system starts saving time. Productivity typically rises by about 10 percent, and sometimes by much more.

Common concerns

Will we need different tools? Probably not. The system fits into what you already use: Figma, Sketch, Notion, GitHub or GitLab.

We lack the capacity. How do we fit this into the roadmap? I begin with a small first version and try it on a single pilot project. That helps you make better use of the people you have before you commit more.

Must we hire for it? Usually no. One team can look after the system for everyone, or each team can contribute a person who shares the upkeep.

Is it worth the effort? For teams that want more design and engineering output without extra hires, yes. A design system can lift a team’s efficiency by 5 to 50 percent and reduce costs. I can share examples if you ask.

What you get

What I deliver.

  • A review of how your team designs and builds at present

  • Agreed names and rules for colour, type, spacing and components

  • A first working design system, tested on one pilot project

  • Starter templates, live coaching and remote workshops for your team
